The TIHC Circle brings together people who choose to stand closer to the work: the artists, the makers, the research, the journeys, and the institution taking shape around them.
The work is forming. The people inside the Circle are shaping it now.
The TIHC Circle is the private circle of patrons, collectors and invited contributors around The Institute for Hybrid Cultures. It forms through patronage and through invitation, and it is about collecting in the widest sense: collecting knowledge, collecting encounters, collecting relationships, collecting a way of seeing, alongside collecting the work itself. Three words hold the centre of it: collect, encounter, learn. This is where research becomes encounter, encounter becomes relationship, and patronage becomes legacy.
Six layers. Some quiet, some active. All of them running.
Choose one to look inside.
Presence, not presentation.
A close encounter with how creative work actually happens: a working day in a studio before an object exists, an artist walking through their own thinking in real time, a curator on the reasoning behind what becomes visible. Learning comes through proximity.
Time with makers
The process, the decisions, the materials as they happen, inside studios and workshops rather than in front of finished walls.
The people behind institutions
Curators, researchers and institution-makers, met in conversation about their thinking, not their press releases.
Journeys built around a question
Small, research-led, with trusted local partners. The days unfold around a real question rather than a tourism itinerary.
Encounters that become relationships
Some become collaborations, commissions or long friendships. TIHC creates the conditions. It does not promise a particular outcome.
The Circle travels with the research.
Small, high-standard cultural journeys, built around a question and announced to members when they are ready to be booked. TIHC shapes the cultural programme: the question, the people, the places. Our travel partner operates the journey itself. A journey may mean walking with an artist through their creative process, time in a workshop, meeting curators and institution-makers, and visiting places connected to materials and practices.
The programme is curatorial before it is logistical.
Presence, not presentation.
Members hear first, and a code of conduct governs respect, consent, photography and privacy.
Patronage, nomination, and the occasional person the future is already leaning toward.
Reaching a threshold makes a supporter eligible for consideration. The invitation is the Institute's decision. The Circle is never sold, and it carries no price.
Individuals
Individuals who make a significant annual commitment to TIHC may be considered for invitation. The relationship comes first; the Circle follows from it.
Institutions
Museums, foundations, family offices, universities, brands, and private banks with a genuine cultural mandate. An invited institution designates one primary representative and one substitute.
By Invitation
Selected curators, artists, scholars, architects, researchers and thinkers whose presence strengthens the exchange, tied to no donation amount. Pedigree matters; so does vision. An emerging voice with a real idea belongs here as much as an established name.
The work is forming. The circle around it is forming now.
The Collecting Academy
How to lookA learning ground taking shape with the first members: how to look, how to research a work, how to build a collection with a point of view.
Conversations and Introductions
The relational engineCollector conversations, peer visits, and introductions made carefully, where both sides want them. TIHC connects the right people around a real reason, in any city, in both directions.
Time Inside the Work
Presence, not presentationStudios, workshops, collections and institutions. Time spent close to creative processes as they happen. Presence, not presentation.
Artists, Makers, Places, Ideas
A new way of meeting creativityWork, people and places members may not otherwise encounter. The Archive's research becomes the substance of encounters and journeys. Members hear first.
Carry the Work Forward
Institutional contributionResearch, honoraria, commissions, residencies, prizes and, over time, an institutional collection built together. Members join the juries that direct the Circle Cultural Allocation.
Shape What Forms
Built around relationshipsHost a conversation, propose a subject, join a selected panel or jury, develop an initiative with us, and bring in people who belong here. The Circle is built around relationships, and the people inside it now are the ones who will have shaped it.
